Notes:
The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has scaled down global merchandise trade growth forecast to 0.8 %.
The projection is less than 1.7 percent increase forecasted in April. The institution said its 3.3 percent growth projection for 2024 remains unchanged from the previous estimate. WTO expects real world GDP to grow by 2.6 percent at market exchange rates in 2023 and by 2.5 percent in 2024.

Notes:
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced Card-on-File Tokenisation (CoFT) in September 2021 and began implementation from October 1, 2022. Tokenisation refers to replacement of actual card details with an alternate code called the token.
At present, Card-on-File (CoF) token can only be created through merchant’s application or webpage. RBI has now proposed to introduce CoF token creation facilities directly at the issuer bank level.

Indian men’s kabaddi team defeated Iran 33-29 to win the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023, which recently concluded.
Indian men team won their 8th Gold medal in 9 editions of the sport in Asian Games. India women’s kabaddi team has defeated Taiwan in the final earlier.

India and Saudi Arabia inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Riyadh to collaborate in the fields of electrical interconnections, green and clean hydrogen and supply chains.
This MoU aims to establish exchange of electricity during peak times and emergencies; co-development of projects; co-production of green hydrogen and renewable energy; and also establishing secure, reliable and resilient supply chains of materials used in green and clean hydrogen and the renewable energy sector.

World Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, celebrated annually on October 8, is a global initiative aimed at promoting awareness of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source, along with the versatile technology of fuel cells.
On the occasion, the R&D Roadmap for the National Green Hydrogen Mission was unveiled by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. The roadmap, which provides for a budget of Rs. 400 crores, seeks to provide guidance for developing a vibrant research and development ecosystem which can help commercialize Green Hydrogen.
