The National Gopal Ratna Awards were presented recently, as part of the National Milk Day celebration in 2023 by Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying.

The Nepal Army contingent, consisting of 334 personnel, has arrived in India to take part in the 17th edition of the Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN.
This annual event is conducted alternately in India and Nepal. The exercise is scheduled to take place in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, and will span from November 24 to December 7, 2023.

During its 63rd council meeting, the International Sugar Organisation (ISO), based in London, declared India as the Chair of the organization for the year 2024.
The primary focus will be on uniting member nations to embrace more sustainable practices in sugarcane cultivation, sugar and ethanol production, and optimizing the utilization of by-products.

India and the European Union formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on semiconductors.
The agreement was finalized during a discussion between leaders of the EU-India Trade and Technology Council (TTC). As part of the understanding, the EU highlighted that it will involve the exchange of information concerning granted public subsidies, contributing to transparency and cooperation in the field of semiconductors between the two entities.

Notes:
The sloth bear rescue centre at Bannerghatta National Park (BNP), initiated in 2000 in Karnataka, acknowledged as the second-largest sloth bear rescue centre globally, has marked its 18th year of operation.
The sloth bear rehabilitation centre is the first such functioning centre for rescued sloth bears from keepers of dancing bears in India.
