The Mullaperiyar dam is located in the state of Kerala and is in control of Tamil Nadu. There has been a long dispute since it presents a threat to lakhs living downstream in Kerala and it irrigates over 2 lakh hectares in five districts of Tamil Nadu.
Recently, the Supreme Court directed that the maximum water level in Mullaperiyar dam should be 139.50 ft until November 10. The dam is located in the upper region of the river Periyar, which originates in Tamil Nadu and flows into Kerala

SBI Cap is the fund manager of the ‘Special Window for Affordable & Mid-Income Housing’ (SWAMIH) Fund.
Recently, the Fund has announced complete exit from its investment made in a residential project in Mumbai. The fund was set up in the year 2020 to provide last mile funding to those affordable housing projects, which are stuck due to financial crunch. SWAMIH has given approval to 95 projects sanctioning over Rs 9,500 crores which will complete over 57,700 homes.

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has recently released its annual review of India’s actions on climate change. NRDC is an international non-profit environmental organisation.
As per the report, India is largely on track to meet its Paris Climate Agreement targets. It said that the country is to meet its targets of reducing emissions by 33 to 35 per cent of its GDP by 2030 from the 2005 levels and achieve 40 per cent of installed power capacity from non-fossil fuels by 2030.

The Governor of Georgia, Brian P. Kemp, has announced that November 1 will be observed as ‘Kannada Language and Rajyotsava Day’.
Georgia had become the first state in the U.S. to issue such a proclamation for Kannada. Karnataka is set to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava. Georgia houses one of the biggest Indian diaspora in the U.S. Kannada is one of the longest-surviving classical languages, with a rich literature and inscriptions dating back to 450 BCE.

Recently, Scientists have confirmed a South Dakota man- Ernie LaPointe- as the great-grand son of the 19th century Native American leader Sitting Bull, by checking a sample of hair belonging to the leader.  Scientists took DNA from a tiny sample of Sitting Bull’s hair was stored in Washington DC.
