As part of the Adarsha Colony initiative, the Odisha government has sanctioned ₹22.5 crore for setting up India’s first resettlement colony for people affected by coastal erosion and climate change.
The colony will be set up for the people of Satbhaya in Kendrapada district. The fund will be utilities for the construction of houses, drinking water, electricity, roads and other facilities for the displaced people.

Ranajit Guha, an eminent Indian historian, has passed away recently. He was one of the founders of the Subaltern School, which is one of the most influential post-colonial, post-Marxist schools in history.
He authored several books, the latest one being ‘the Small Voice of History’ in 2009. He was the editor of Subaltern School group’s early anthologies and wrote both in English and in Bengali.

Notes:
Bihan Mela is an annual festival celebrated by the Kondh tribe in Odisha’s Nayagarh district. Literally known as seed festival, it has been celebrated since 2019.
The event is participated by farmers from as many as 40 villages in Dasapalla region, surrounded by hills and forests.

Japan’s Basic Plan on Ocean Policy was adopted recently by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s Cabinet. This five-year ocean policy seeks to strengthen marine security amid the growing Chinese assertiveness in the regional seas. The Basic Plan on Ocean Policy, which was first crafted in 2008, = is revised every five years.

Jana Shakti Exhibition was organized to commemorate the 100th episode of the popular radio program “Mann ki Baat”.
‘Jana Shakti: A Collective Power’ was inaugurated by renowned artist Anjolie Ela Menon which celebrates the artistic diversity of India.
