Additionally, his Council of Ministers will meet to outline a development roadmap within the first 100 days of their tenure.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has chosen India to host the inaugural FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup, featuring 24 teams, in December 2025. This decision aligns with FIH’s strategy to expand opportunities and promote diversity in hockey. FIH President Tayyab Ikram and Hockey India’s President Dr. Dilip Tirkey emphasized the event’s significance and India’s commitment to fostering global hockey talent. India has previously hosted the tournament thrice, winning twice.

The World Bank’s June 2024 Global Economic Prospects report revised India’s GDP growth forecast for 2024-25 to 6.6%, up from 6.4% in January. India is projected to remain the fastest-growing major economy in 2024-25. For 2025-26, the forecast increased to 6.7% from 6.5%. India’s economy grew by 8.2% in 2023-24, per the NSO. The Reserve Bank of India raised its 2024-25 forecast to 7.2%.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi has been appointed as the Chief of the Army Staff, succeeding General Manoj C Pande. Born on July 1, 1964, he joined the Infantry (Jammu and Kashmir Rifles) in 1984. With nearly 40 years of service, he held key roles such as Director General Infantry and GOC-in-C Northern Command. An alumnus of prestigious institutions, he holds multiple advanced degrees and has received several military honors.

Notes:
The Assam government launched the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina (MMNM) scheme in June, 2024, to promote girl education and end child marriage. Approved by the state cabinet, the scheme offers financial support to around 10 lakh girl students. Girls in higher secondary education will receive Rs 1000 monthly, those in degree courses Rs 1200, and those in Post Graduation or B.Ed programs Rs 2500.
