Union Minister for Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh released the ‘India’s Bioeconomy Report 2022’ recently. India’s Bio-economy has reached over USD 80 billion in 2021 with 14.1% growth over 2020. It is likely to touch 150 billion dollars by 2025 and over 300 billion dollars by 2030.
Dr Jitendra Singh also launched Special ‘Biotech Ignition Grant call for North East Region’ (BIG-NER) with a financial support of Rs 50 Lakhs each to 25 start-ups and entrepreneurs from North East Region to develop biotech solutions.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched ‘Aadhaar Face RD’ app to enable Aadhaar card holders to authenticate their unique 12-digit identity number using face.
UIDAI enabled Aadhaar Authentication User Agencies (AUAs) to capture Aadhaar card holders face for authentication purpose. The App captures live person’s face for authentication using Face Authentication Technology. A Aadhaar card holder need not to carry physical identification and the biometric data will be restored in the Central Identity Data Repository (CIDA).

Andhra Pradesh has selected Padmanabham mandal in Visakhapatnam district to implement the ‘Family Doctor’ project on a pilot basis.
Under the scheme, Medical and health personnel should visit the Aarogyasri beneficiaries a week after being discharged from hospital to enquire about their health condition and get feedback.

Notes:
China successfully launched its second module, called Wentian, to the Tiangong space station recently.
Wentian was launched aboard a Long March 5B rocket from Hainan, China docking at the Tiangong space station about 13 hours later. The module contains equipment that allows the Chinese astronauts, also known as taikonauts, to perform various scientific experiments.

Notes:
The Tamil Nadu government recently instituted of district climate change missions (DCCM) across 38 districts in the state.
The DCCMs will be administered by District Collectors as ‘Mission Directors’ while District forest officers (DFOs) will function as ‘climate officers’. The collectors will prepare district-level climate change mitigation and adaptation plans and provide inputs for low-carbon, climate-resilient development plans.
