Technology and Social media giant Facebook has signed a deal to buy renewable energy in India. This is the first such deal of Facebook in the country.
Facebook and CleanMax are working together for supplying renewable power into India’s electrical grid. The 32-megawatt wind power project is located in the state of Karnataka.

The Special Drawing Rights (SDR) is an international reserve asset, created by the IMF in 1969 to supplement its member countries’ official reserves.
Recently, the IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva announced that IMF will distribute a new allocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) to member countries by mid-August. IMF members had agreed to support a new SDR allocation of $650 billion, the largest in the history of the IMF.

The United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) flagship State of World Population Report 2021 waws released recently.
As per the report titled ‘My Body is My Own’, only 55% of women are fully empowered to make choices. Around half the women from 57 developing countries do not have the right to make decisions regarding their bodies, using contraception, seeking healthcare or on their sexuality.

Adenoviruses are a family of viruses that can cause a wide variety of illnesses in humans, including the common cold, gastrointestinal infections and pink eye. There are 88 types of adenovirus that would infect humans, and these are grouped into seven different species, A-G.
Recently, in several COVID-19 vaccines, including those produced by Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca, these viruses are the basis for several COVID-19 vaccines.

The season between winter and monsoon, referred to as the ‘forest fire season’, is increasing in India due to climate change and scarce rainfall in the Himalayan regions.
The forests of Uttarakhand have not stopped burning in the last six months. There were 470 incidents of fire in Uttarakhand’s forests between November 2020 and January 2021 against the previous year’s count of 39.
