‘Cyber Safe Women’ campaign Launched by Maharashtra Government
The newly elected Maharashtra Government on Friday, January 03, 2020, launched a campaign named ‘Cyber Safe Women’. The campaign is launched by the Maharashtra Cyber Police, under which awareness camps and interactive sessions in the form of presentations, lectures and case studies will be conducted across 90 places in 34 districts of Maharashtra. The campaign is launched to protect women and children from cybercrime and is a joint initiative of the Maharashtra state government, Maharashtra Cyber and Maharashtra police. Cybercrime includes matrimonial and dating apps fraud, stalking, online abuse, defamation, etc.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray said that the campaign will help to educate women about how the internet is being used nowadays for committing various types of crimes by anti-social elements and child predators. The Chief Minister also emphasized the issue of rising instances of cybercrime and ensured that the government is taking every measure for the safety and security of women and children.
