International Gita Festival, 2018 in Kurukshetra (Haryana) from Dec 7 to 23
The International Gita Festival 2018 will be organised in Kurukshetra in Haryana from December 7-23 in which Mauritius will be the partner country and Gujarat the partner state. Paintings on the walls of Kurukshetra on the theme of the Mahabharata under the ‘paint-the-wall’ competition.

Renowned flautist Pandit Keshav Ginde won Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Lifetime Achievement Award for Classical Music.

‘Making of New India: Transformation under Modi Government’, compilation of 51 essays and is edited by NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy, NITI Aayog official Kishore Desai, and Director of BJP-affiliated Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, Anirban Ganguly. President Ram Nath Kovind on remarked that the term ‘inclusiveness’ is no more a slogan, but an idea on the make, due to the Narendra Modi government’s role in “giving shape and form to an all-inclusive idea of ‘New India’.

The Centre formally appointed seniormost election commissioner Sunil Arora as the Chief Election Commissioner. He will replace Om Prakash Rawat.
9th Indian Organ Donation Day observed on November 27; Tamil Nadu is Best Performing State
The Tamil Nadu health department received Union ministry of health and family welfare’s best performance award for organ donation for the fourth time in a row. State health minister C Vijaya Baskar received the award for the department at the ninth annual National Organ Day held in Delhi.

Defence Minister launches ‘Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti’
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated “Raksha Gyan Shakti”, to promote self-reliance in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in defence. Under the mission, the target for the year 2017-18 is to train 10,000 personnel of Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSU) and Ordnance factory Board (OFB) on IPR and facilitate filing of at least 1,000 new IPR applications.
RBI relaxes mandatory hedging requirement for funds raised through the external commercial borrowing route
In a bid to encourage more companies to raise money overseas, the RBI has relaxed the mandatory hedging requirement to 70% from initially 100% for funds raised through the external commercial borrowing route. It will bring down cost of borrowing from overseas markets as companies would find it less expensive to manage risks associated with exchange rate fluctuations.
ADB to provide $75 million for 24-hour water supply in Karnataka’s four coastal towns
India on Tuesday signed a $75-million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to provide round-the-clock water supply to Karnataka’s four coastal towns of Kundapura, Mangalore Puttur and Udupi, and to improve sanitation infrastructure in Mangalore town.

The centre will impart advanced competences and analytical skills required for life- sciences research to Indian students and researchers. The centre will set up a next-generation lab for real-time analysis and organise workshop for advanced technologies.

The first ever Sustainable Blue Conference starts today in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi with Canada and Japan as co-hosts. It is under the theme: ‘The Blue Economy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.’ It invilved political leaders and government representatives from across the world, the African Union, United Nations organs and Commonwealth are also participating.
