The four riders and their horses Sudipti Hajela (Chinski), Divyakriti Singh (Adrenalin Firfod), Hriday Cheda (Chemxpro Emerald) and Anush Agarwalla (Etro) recently clinched India’s first-ever gold medal for India in Equestrian Dressage.
Equestrian first made its appearance at the Asian Games in 1982 and the host India dominated the competition with three gold medals. After 41 days, Indian team clinched a medal recently.

The “Methane emissions in livestock and rice systems: Sources, quantification, mitigation and metrics” report was released recently by FAO.
It revealed that approximately 32% of methane emissions caused by human activities stem from microbial processes taking place during the enteric fermentation of ruminant livestock and the management of manure systems worldwide.

Due to record-breaking rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, the state is witnessing a surge in ‘chiggers’, a vector for Orientia tsutsugamushi, the pathogen responsible for causing scrub typhus.
The state has recorded over 1,000 cases of the disease in 2023, twice the number recorded last year. Fifteen people have died due to scrub typhus in the state so far.

UAE Ministry of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, in collaboration with the Dubai Media Council, has officially launched a guide titled ‘100 Practical Use Cases of Generative AI in Media.’
The launch took place on the opening day of the 21st Arab Media Forum in Dubai.

The Warehousing Development Regulatory Authority (WDRA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bank of India to support farmers and traders by providing low-interest rate loans against electronic negotiable warehouse receipts (e-NWRs).
The objective of this partnership is to raise awareness and facilitate funding against e-NWRs.

The two-day Technology and Bharatiya Bhasha Summit was organized as a part of the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, by the Union Ministry of Education in New Delhi.
The aim of the Summit was to facilitate a smooth transition from the current education ecosystem to one rooted in Indian languages, in line with the vision of NEP 2020 and to set the course for a technologically bright future for Indian languages in education.

Meerut-based Kiran Baliyan clinched the country’s first medal in women’s shot put in 72 years.
Baliyan threw to a distance of 17.36m in her third attempt to finish third behind the Chinese duo of Olympic champion Lijiao Gong and Jiayuan Song.

Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman have been honored with the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their groundbreaking work in nucleoside base modifications.
Their research paved the way for the creation of highly successful mRNA vaccines against Covid-19. In the future, the technology may also be used to deliver therapeutic proteins and treat some cancer types.

The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2023 has been awarded to Ferenc Krausz, Pierre Agostini, and Anne L’Huillier for their groundbreaking experiments that have led to the creation of attosecond pulses of light.
These pulses have opened new avenues for studying the behavior of electrons within atoms and molecules, revolutionizing the field of electrodynamics in matter.

World Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, celebrated annually on October 8, is a global initiative aimed at promoting awareness of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source, along with the versatile technology of fuel cells.
On the occasion, the R&D Roadmap for the National Green Hydrogen Mission was unveiled by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. The roadmap, which provides for a budget of Rs. 400 crores, seeks to provide guidance for developing a vibrant research and development ecosystem which can help commercialize Green Hydrogen.
