The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) was set up in 1957 in Cochin. It is the first and only national center where research in all disciplines relating to fishing and fish processing is undertaken.
CIFT has developed fertiliser and pet supplement from shrimp shell. ‘Foliar Spray’, the customised fertiliser with antimicrobial agents, is developed to enhance crop yield and improve disease. The institute has also tied up with a Kolkata-based company to commercialise the technology

The Global Financial Stability Report is a semi-annual publication by the International Monetary Fund, which gives detailed review on the stability of global financial markets.
In the recent Global Financial Stability Report, the IMF has dedicated an exclusive chapter to cryptocurrency. Under it, IMF mentions that rapid growth of the crypto ecosystem presents new opportunities at the same time, it has cautioned about the financial stability challenges.

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has set up an expert panel headed by former Enviornment and Forest Secretary C K Mishra to suggest a framework to develop a world-class sustainable finance hub at IFSC.
IFSCA was established in April last year under the IFSC Authority Act, 2019. It is headquartered at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. IFSCA is an authority for the development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in India.

‘Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt’ was launched on 24th June, 2020 to provide credit facility to the promoters of stressed MSMEs, through lending institutions. SMA-2 and NPA accounts who are eligible for restructuring as per RBI guidelines are the beneficiaries.
The Government had earlier decided to extend this scheme for six months from 31.03.2021 to 30.09.2021. Now it has been further extended till 31.03.2022.

The Ministry of Textiles has approved continuation of Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme (CHCDS) with a total outlay of ₹160 crore. The scheme will now continue up to March 2026.
Under the scheme, infrastructural support, market access, design and technology up-gradation support are provided to handicraft artisans.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the ‘Swechha’ programme, which aims to promote the health and hygiene of women and adolescent girls.
Under the initiative, the state government will provide sanitary napkins at government educational institutions free of cost. 10 lakh adolescent girls studying from 7th-12th grades in all government schools and intermediate colleges across the state would be provided 10 sanitary napkins will be given every month.

The Government of Delhi has approved the proposal for issue of a unique health card to “each and every citizen” of the UT under the UT’s Health Information Management System (HIMS) project.
The Government has decided for minimum eligibility criteria for obtaining the card. Voter ID would be the only mandatory document for adults for the health card and children would be issued health card based on the IDs of their parents.

The Interpol has launched a cyber security campaign – “Keeping cybercriminals out: #JustOneClick” from October 4 to 22, which will be organized mainly in social media.
The aim of this campaign is to create awareness about cyber threats and help people to protect their computer systems, networks and personal information from cyber criminals

Every year, 5th October is celebrated as the World Teachers’ Day by UNESCO. This was introduced in 1994 to recognize Teacher’s contributions to shape the world.
This year, World Teacher’s Day is celebrated under the theme “Teachers at the heart of education recovery”. This theme stresses the support which teachers require to make education recovery from COVID disruption.

The DART mission, or NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test, is set to be lift off on November 23 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
After the launch in November, NASA will test its asteroid deflection technology in September 2022 to see the impact of motion of a near-Earth asteroid in space.The target of this asteroid deflection technology is Dimorphos, a small moon orbiting the near-Earth asteroid Didymos.
