Indian shooters ended the ISSF World Championships campaign with the best-ever record of 38 medals, which placed India second in the tally after China.
The rifle/pistol competitions were held at Egyptian capital Cairo while shotgun competitions were held at Osijek, Croatia. In the previous world championships in Changwon, Korea in 2018, Indian squad finished with 27 medals. India also bagged three 2024 Paris Olympic quotas, this time.

Uttar Pradesh’s Ranipur Tiger Reserve has become the 53rd tiger reserve of India. The tiger reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km.
It is also the fourth tiger reserve in Uttar Pradesh and the three other tiger reserves being Dudhwa, Pilibhit and Amangarh. Ranipur tiger reserve is covered by northern tropical dry deciduous forests and is home to mammals like megafauna tiger, leopard, bear, spotted deer, sambhar, chinkara among others.

The United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine agreed to implement a Black Sea grain deal despite Russia’s withdrawal from the agreement.
Black Sea grain Initiative was launched by Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Nations in July 2022 to enable the resumption of exports from Ukraine of grains, food products and fertilizer through a humanitarian corridor from Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated North India’s first hyper-scale data centre ‘Yotta D1’.
It was built at the cost of Rs 5,000 crore and spread over an area of 3,00,000 square feet. MoUs worth Rs 39,000 crore were also signed between the state Government and Hiranandani Group to be spent on projects. This data centre park will have a total of 6 data centres.

India gifted 200 vehicles to the Nepalese government for logistical support the smooth conduct of the general elections, to be held this month.
Nepal, which is set to hold elections for the federal Parliament as well as the provincial assemblies had requested the Indian government for the vehicles. Out of the 200 vehicles, 120 are for the security forces while 80 vehicles are for the Election Commission of Nepal.

As per a new study, Blue whales may swallow roughly 10 million microplastic pieces daily, or up to about 95 pounds (43.5 kg) of plastic.
Krill-favoring humpbacks may ingest about 4 million microplastic pieces (up to 38 pounds of plastic) daily, while those favoring fish may take in roughly 200,000 pieces (up to a couple of pounds of plastic).

Delhi has topped the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) coverage with 61.5 per cent of their working population.
It is followed by Goa with 51.4 per cent and Haryana with 35.3 per cent, according to the vision document of EPFO. Maharashtra leads the chart with 11.9 million EPFO subscribers, followed by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

A coalition led by the right-wing former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won a majority of seats in the Israeli parliament.
Knesset is the name of the unicameral legislature of Israel. Netanyahu was the country’s prime minister for 12 years between 2009 and 2021.  Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption, will be invited by Israeli President Isaac Herzog to form a government.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar inaugurated the ‘Shilp Samagam-2022’ in New Delhi.
The exhibition includes 108 stalls for beneficiaries of top corporations to showcase and sell their handicraft products. The products include metal craft products, wooden craft products, cane and bamboo items, ceramic products, handlooms and textiles, among others.

SpaceX launched its Falcon Heavy rocket, sending several U.S. military satellites into orbit. This is the most powerful launched ever from the Earth.
This was SpaceX’s 50th launch of 2022 as SpaceX’s workhorse Falcon 9 rocket has launched 49 missions so far this year. The present pace of the space company is a launch every 6.10 days.
