Kerala entered into an agreement with UN Women, to boost women-friendly activities in the State’s tourism sector. It was signed during the first-ever Global Responsible Tourism Summit in Kumarakom, Kerala.
A memorandum of understanding agreed to work towards promoting gender-inclusive tourism sites in the State. It seeks to provide training stakeholders who include young representatives and civil organisations.

India’s indigenously-made light combat aircraft Tejas will be participating in an international multilateral air exercise named Exercise Desert Flag VIll.
It is hosted by the UAE, which will see participation from the air forces of the UAE, France, Kuwait, Australia, the UK, Bahrain, Morocco, Spain, Republic of Korea, and the US. As per the Indian Air Force, five LCA Tejas and two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft would take part.

The Indian High Commission in London opened its visa application process for U.K. nationals to apply for the new Young Professionals Scheme (YPS).
Under the reciprocal scheme signed between India and UK at the G20 summit in Indonesia last November, Indian and British nationals aged between 18 and 30 can apply to live and work in either country for a period of up to two years.

The Methane Global Tracker report is the annual report released by the International Energy Agency.
According to the latest report, fossil fuel companies released 120 million metric tonnes of methane into the atmosphere last year. The report found that no effort has been taken by the fossil fuel companies to bring down the emissions.

The World Bank has announced the extension of 2 complementary loan of 500 million USD each to India to support the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
The Mission was launched in 2021 with an aim to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across India. With a budget of Rs.64,180 crore, the mission has three aspects: strengthening public health institutions, building an IT-enabled disease surveillance system, and expanding research on infectious diseases.

Bulgaria celebrates its Liberation Day on March 3 each year. The day marks Bulgaria’s freedom from Ottoman rule after almost five centuries.
The day is observed to honor the Bulgarian volunteers who fought alongside Russian and Romanian soldiers in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 to free their country from Ottoman oppression.

The recently released annual Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) report for 2021-22 shows that the farm sector employs a significant proportion of the labor force in India, at 45.5%.
Structural transformation in economics is the shift in labor force from agriculture to high-productivity sectors like manufacturing and modern services. It is expected to result in increased productivity and higher incomes.

The Rijksmuseum is the Netherlands’ national museum, which is dedicated to Dutch arts and history. It is situated in Amsterdam in the Museum Square, close to the Van Gogh Museum.
The Night Watch at Rijkmuseum is a famous painting by Rembrandt – a Dutch Golden Age painter. Members belonging to the climate activist group Extinction Rebellion protested close to the famous painting in Amsterdam to oppose against the Rijkmuseum’s partnership with the airline KLM and bank ING.

The VLT Survey Telescope (VST) is located at the Paranal Observatory in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile and is adjacent to the four Very Large Telescope (VLT) Unit Telescopes.
It is the world’s largest telescope specifically designed to survey the sky in visible light. The program is a collaboration between the Italy’s OAC and the European Southern Observatory (ESO). The VLT Survey Telescope has recently captured the detailed image of IC 4701, an emission nebula found in the Sagittarius constellation.

Notes:
The Centre directs NAFED and National Consumers Cooperative Federation of India Limited (NCCF) to immediately intervene in the market for the purchase of Red Onion (Kharif).
The Price Stabilization Fund has been set up for the procurement and storage of onion as a buffer to keep the supply chain smooth during the lean seasons.
