Road Transport and Highways Ministry notified ‘Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme’. It shall come into force from April 1, 2022.
As per the scheme, the compensation to the kin of hit-and-run victims will be increased to Rs 2 lakh in case of death from April 1 (from 25000). The compensation to a person sustaining grievous injuries in a hit-and-run case will increase to Rs 50,000 from Rs 12,500.

India’s export of fresh fruits has witnessed considerable growth during 2020-21. India’s major exporting destinations of fresh fruits during 2020-21 were Bangladesh (USD126.6 million), Netherland (USD 117.56 million), UAE (USD 100.68 million).
Fresh Grapes is the largest exported items among all fresh food category. During 2020-21, the export value of Fresh Grapes was USD 314 million. The export of guavas from India sees a growth of 260% since 2013.

As per the Union Budget 2022-23, the data exchange among all mode operators will be brought on the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP).
Recently, in the post-budget webinar on Gati Shakti, it was announced that about 24 Digital Systems of 6 Ministries are being integrated through ULIP. With involvement of private sector entities, the government is set to create a ‘National Single Window Logistics Portal’, to reduce logistics cost.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) began recently in the city of Barcelona, Spain. In the conference, the Global Mobile Economy Report was released.
As per the report, the total number of 5G connections globally is expected to reach 1 billion in 2022, which could increase 5G adoption. In 2021, mobile technologies and services generated USD 4.5 trillion, which equals 5% of Global GDP. This is expected to grow to USD 5 trillion in 2025.

Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani launched the new motto of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR on its 17th foundation day at Red Fort, New Delhi.
The New Motto is ‘Bhavishyo Rakshati Rakshit’. The Minister also complemented the collaboration between NCPCR & Border Security Force for the initiative called ‘SAHARA’, which provides psycho-social counselling to children of BSF jawans who laid down their lives.

Every year, the Zero Discrimination Day is observed on March 1, to celebrate the right of everyone to live a full and productive life with dignity.
This year, the theme of ‘Zero Discrimination Day’ is “Remove laws that harm, create laws that empower”. This year, UNAIDS is highlighting the urgent need to take action against discriminatory laws prevalent across the world.

According to the official data the number of children affected due to Covid in India is 1,53,827. This is not restricted to children who lost their parents or caregivers.
Responding to a recent study by Lancet, which claimed that 19 lakh children in India lost a parent or caregiver to Covid 19, the Ministry of Women and Child Development said that the findings have no correlation to ground realities.

Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the 2nd edition of the ‘Roorkee Water Conclave’ today at IIT, Roorkee.
It is being jointly organised by Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and National Institute of Hydrology, focusing on the theme, ‘Water Security for Sustainable Development’. National Institute of Hydrology is an autonomous society under Ministry of Jal Shakti.

MyGov, which is the Government of India’s citizen engagement platform has launched “Sabka Vikas MahaQuiz” series commencing from 1st March 2022. This quiz would continue for the entire year and comprise 14 episodes.
This initiative aims to build awareness amongst citizens about good governance, various government schemes and initiatives.
