The Union Cabinet has recently approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the pharmaceuticals and IT hardware sectors.
The PLI scheme for pharmaceuticals with an outlay of Rs 15000 crore, has a duration of nine years, till 2028-29. The Cabinet also approved the PLI Scheme for IT hardware such as laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs and servers with an outlay of Rs 7350 crore.

India off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest Indian bowler to take 400 Test wickets, while playing at his 77th Test.
In the international level, he is only behind Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan, who reached the milestone in 72 Tests. Earlier, he also became the fourth Indian bowler with the most wickets in international cricket with 599 wickets across formats.

E-Daakhil portal was launched on 7th September, 2020 by the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission. The portal has been designed for Consumer grievance redressal and is presently operating in 15 States and Union Territories.
It has been now decided to integrate the Common Service Centres with the e-daakhil portal.

The Prime Minster of India Narendra Modi has inaugurated India’s first of its kind “India Toy Fair 2021”. This is a virtual exhibition that is being held from 27th Feb to 2nd March.
It enables the users to not only buy toys but also participate in events, activities and network with the various stakeholders of the Toy Industry.

Black-browed Babbler, which was considered to be extinct, has reappeared after 170 years. The bird has been spotted in Borneo of Indonesia.
The bird was first described by scientists around 1848 and it was then considered to be extinct. According to Global Wildlife Conservation, two men accidentally photographed the bird in Borneo, Indonesia.

MapMyIndia, the Indian Digital Mapping company has integrated into the government’s Co-WIN portal. This aimed to help people locate nearest COVID vaccination centres around them.
The company has also stated that it has launched new maps and nearby search features in its website.

India is sending a consignment of rice and hydroxychloroquine tablets to the drought-hit east African country in Madagascar.
The humanitarian assistance is being delivered on-board Indian Naval Ship (INS) Jalashwa, which will leave with the food and medical assistance and is expected to reach the Port of Ehoala in Madagascar by the third week of March.

According to the 10th Edition of Hurun Global Rich List 2021, China leads with the highest number of billionaires at 1058 followed by the U.S and India.
The index also highlighted that the world added 8 billionaires a week in 2020. The total wealth of all billionaires across the globe rose 32 per cent during the review period.

The Odisha government is set to begin its first state survey of the social and educational conditions of people from backward classes.
In the state there are nearly 209 communities identified as socially and educationally backward classes (SEBCs). The classes comprise around 54 per cent of the state’s population. A proposal by the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (OSCBC) was approved in this regard.

The United Nations General Assembly has unanimously declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
The unanimously adopted resolution was sponsored by India and supported by over 70 nations. The co-sponsors of the declaration include Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia and Senegal, and all Member States of the UN.
