The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recently launched Operation Rakth Chandan recovered 14.63 MT of Red Sanders estimated at Rs 11.70 crores in the international market.
The red sanders were seized from a consignment at ICD Sabarmati which was to be exported to Sharjah, UAE. The suspect container was scanned through a ‘container scanning device’.

Indian Council for Cultural Relations organised a ten days programme named ‘Gen-Next Democracy Network’ concluded.
Under the Gen Next Democracy Network programme, Youth from various democratic countries come to India and get acquainted with India’s heritage, culture and functioning of Indian democracy. ICCR is an autonomous organisation involved in India’s global cultural relations, through cultural exchange with other countries.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the ‘National Conference of School Education Ministers’ in Gujarat.
The Conference was organised by the Department of School Education & Literacy of Union Education Ministry and Education Ministry of Gujarat. It aims to focus on strengthening the education ecosystem in the country with a focus on the implementation of National Education Policy 2020, skilling in schools, and digital initiatives.

The Global Day of Parents is annually celebrated on 1 June to appreciate the commitment of parents towards their children.
The UN General Assembly proclaimed 1994 as the International Year of the Family and 15 May each year as the International Day of Families. The UNGA later announced that 1 June will be observed as the Global Day of Parents. The theme for Global Day of Parents 2022 is ‘Appreciate all parents throughout the world.’

The Union Cabinet expanded the scope of the public procurement portal Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to allow cooperative societies to register as buyers.
This would help cooperatives in getting competitive prices through an open and transparent process. Over 8,54,000 registered cooperatives and their 270 million members will be benefitted. The registration of cooperatives as buyers was not covered within the existing mandate of GeM, so far.

Andhra Pradesh government’s Anti-Corruption Bureau has developed a mobile application named “ACB 14400” for lodging complaints against corruption.
The ‘ACB 14400’ application, once opened, will feature two categories – Live Report and Lodge Complaint. In the ‘Live Report’ section, users can click photographs, record audio or videos of live acts of corruption and submit complaints instantaneously.

Notes:
Meta recently announced that AMBER alerts will be launched in Instagram in 25 countries. With the new feature, users in these regions will get notifications of missing children in the area.
The feature was already present on Facebook and it has helped find hundreds of children since its launch in 2015. AMBER alerts for Instagram was developed in partnership with various organisations like US- National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami won from the Champawat bypoll by a margin of over 55,000 votes.
He had earlier lost from Khatima assembly constituency in the Uttarakhand Assembly Polls 2022 even though BJP won a clear majority in the state. This was a crucial victory for the Chief Minister to win the bypoll to retain the Chief Minister post.

Notes:
Rajasthan launched a special Health Care scheme ‘Anchal’ in the Karauli district for pregnant women. During the campaign, over 13000 pregnant women were tested for their haemoglobin levels and are advised to take right medicines.
Under this campaign, it is also ensured that the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife and ASHA workers in the district are in constant touch with the pregnant women of their respective areas.

Notes:
Indian Navy Ships Nishank and Akshay were decommissioned after their 32 years of glorious service to the nation.
The decommissioning event was conducted at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai in a traditional ceremony. While INS Nishank was commissioned in 1989, INS Akshay was commissioned a year later in 1990 at Poti, Georgia.
