The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is an autonomous institution under the Department of Space (DoS) and a ‘Deemed to be University’, based at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has partnered with the IIST, similar to the JPL-Caltech model in the United States. A Capacity Building Programme Office (CBPO) located at Bengaluru will coordinate joint research activities between ISRO centres and IIST.

The Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi is on a 2-day official visit to Bangladesh as a part of National Day celebrations in Bangladesh.
During his visit, he has inaugurated the “Bangabandhu-Bapu Museum” together with his counterpart of Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

The Economic Affairs Secretary announced that the inflation target for the period April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026 under the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934 has been kept at 4 per cent with a margin of 2 per cent on either side.
This is the same target mandated to the RBI by the Government in the previous five years (2016-21). RBI was to maintain annual inflation at 4 per cent until March 31, 2021 with an upper tolerance of 6 per cent and a lower tolerance of 2 per cent.’

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog has launched AIM-PRIME (Program for Researchers on Innovations, Market-Readiness & Entrepreneurship).
It aims to promote and support science-based start-ups & ventures across India. AIM has partnered with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to launch this program. It will be implemented by Venture Center – a non-profit technology business incubator.

Indian veteran actor Rajinikanth has been recently conferred with 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2020 recently. This is the top most honour in Indian cinema.
This award is presented every year for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema. This award was first instituted the year 1969.

France is set to conduct the joint naval exercise, La Pérouse, in the Bay of Bengal from April 5 to 7. India is set to join its Quad partners — Australia, Japan, and the United States in the exercise.
Two French Navy ships will be joined by ships from India, Australia, Japan, and the U.S. to promote multilateralism at sea and create free and open Indo-Pacific. India and France will also hold the bilateral naval exercise, Varuna later this month.

The Union Finance ministry has notified rules for winding up of the Settlement Commission, handling income tax and wealth tax disputes.
The Settlement Commission (IT/WT) was constituted in 1976 under Income-tax Act, 1961 and the Wealth Tax Act, 1957. The new dispute resolution system will be available to assessees with taxable income up to ₹50 lakh where disputed income is up to ₹10 lakh.

Pakistan has recently rejected the proposal for trade relations with India. Prime Minister of Pakistan has denied to allow imports of sugar and cotton from India, in order to control prices and overcome a shortage.
Pakistan has stated that no bilateral trade would be encouraged with India till Article 370 is not restored in Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the PM SVANIDHI scheme, urban street vendors are sanctioned with working capital credit facilities upto Rs,10,000 per year by banks. This scheme was launched by the Government of India to provide micro-credit facility to vendors during Covid-19 lockdown.
As per a recent data by the Ministry of Home Affairs, out of the total disbursement under the scheme, private banks have contributed only 1.6%.
