According to the State Business Reform Action Plan Ranking released by Commerce Ministry, Andhra Pradesh retained the top position, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

Centre mulls more stringent law against manual scavanging

Union Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry is considering making the law against manual scavenging more stringent. Under the proposed law, forcing someone to manually clean a sewer could attract up to 7-year imprisonment and a fine.

Asteroid twice the size of Pyramid of Giza expected to cross Earth’s orbit on September 6

Named 465824 (2010 FR), the asteroid’s diameter is expected to be between 120m and 270m. It is classified as an Apollo asteroid because it will cross Earth’s orbit. It was discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey on March 18, 2010.

National Tribal Research Conclave held virtually

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Indian Institute of Public Administration organised National Tribal Research Conclave through virtual platform on September 3 and 4. The Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda chaired the conclave.

Sudan declares emergency amid floods

The authorities declared Sudan a natural disaster area and imposed a 3-month state of emergency across the country after floodwaters and heavy railfall led to the deaths of more than 100 individuals.
