- Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act which entitles senior citizens to claim maintenance from their children, is an effectual step towards the rising incidents of elderly abuse vastly due to speedy urbanization and thus rising trend of nuclear families

For killing Salman Taseer, Quadri sentenced to death by Pakistan Court
- The anti-terrorism court of Rawalpindi, Pakistan found Mumtaz Qadri culpable of murdering the ex- Governor of Punjab Salman Taseer who had urged reform of a blasphemy law
- The court sentenced Quadri to death for killing the former Governor on an Islamabad street on January 4, 2011
- Qadri had confessed to killing Taseer, stating that he rejected to the Governor’s call to amend the blasphemy law
Official retirement age abolished by Britain
- Official retirement age in Britain abolished
- The fresh laws stop employers pressurizing employees to leave their jobs as they reach the 65
- Now, the companies will have to give objective reasons for asking someone to go away their job on grounds of age
Export of Endosulfan allowed by Supreme Court of India
- The apex Court of India permitted the export of more than 1 million tons of contentious insecticide Endosulfan to those countries from whom export orders have been received by the manufacturers in India, subject to strict monitoring by Customs and Environment Ministry officials
FDI Limit for FM radio from 20% to 26%
- FDI Limit for terrestrial broadcasting and FM radio was increased from 20% to 26% by the Govt
