India, Nepal to sign revised Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement
- India and Nepal will sign the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) replacing an earlier agreement signed in 1987.
‘Bharart Vyapar Bandh’ on Dec 1 against FDI in retail trade
- To lodge their strong protest against the decision of the Union Cabinet to allow FDI in retail trade, the country’s trading community will observe ‘Bharat Vyapar Bandh’ on December 1, a call jointly given by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Bharat Udyog Vyapar Mandal.
GIS cell installed to prepare data base for Chilka Lake
- The Wetland Research and Training Centre (WRTC), a monitoring and research wing of the Chilika Development Authority (CDA), has strengthened its infrastructure facility to monitor the water quality and species research programmes. A dedicated GIS cell for modelling studies had been installed at WRTC, Badakul and studies on avian fauna and water bird in Chilika lake with Bombay Natural History Society had commenced. It studies on fish ecology and diversity.
1.3 mn Chinese to compete for government posts
- Some 1.3 million Chinese will compete for 18,000 civil servant posts in various Government departments over the next two days.
French nuclear waste train enters Germany
- A French train loaded with 150 tonnes of reprocessed nuclear waste crossed into Germany Friday, heading for a controversial radioactive waste storage facility in a small German town hundreds of kilometers away.

- International Superstar Freida Pinto who plays the role of the protagonist of the movie ‘Trishna’ held that ‘Trishna’ gave her an opportunity to discover her acting skills and also an opportunity to explore her limits as an actor. The movie is based on Thomas Hardy’s classic novel “Tess of the D’urbervilles” and tells the story of a woman whose life was destroyed by a combination of love and circumstances. ‘Trishna’ is a British drama film directed by Michael Winterbottom, starring Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed which is set in contemporary Rajasthan.
