Update: Bhopal Gas Tragedy Verdict

New Chief of National Human Rights Commission:
On June 7, 2010, Former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan formally took charge as the chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Justice Balakrishnan will hold the post for a period of five years. He retired from the post of the Chief Justice of India on May 12 and was succeeded by Sarosh Homi Kapadia.

Tura: Winter Capital of Meghalaya:
Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul M Sangma announces that state would have Raj Bhavan Annexe at Tura, while hinting that Tura, the headquarter of West Garo Hills district, would also be declared as the winter capital of Meghalaya.

Bangladesh Observer Closes Down
One of the oldest newspaper of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Observer has closed down after a prolonged dispute between the owners and employees. Founded in 1949 as Pakistan Observer, it was renamed Bangladesh Observer in 1972.
