April 19, 2009 : Adiseshiah award for Chandrasekhar
Dr. C.P. Chandrasekhar, Professor, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. has been chosen for Dr. Malcolm Adiseshiah Award for this year.
About This Award: This award is given by H.B.N. Shetty, Executive Trustee of Malcolm and Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust. The award is presented to an outstanding social scientist for his or her contribution in economics and development studies and carries a citation and Rs.2 lakh. It would be presented on November 21, the death anniversary of Dr. Adiseshiah. This would be followed by a Malcolm Adiseshiah Memorial Lecture by the awardee.
April 16, 2009 : ONGC receives ‘Leading Oil & Gas Corporate of the Year’ Award
ONGC has bagged ‘Leading Oil & Gas Corporate of the Year’ award for 2009.
About This Award:
This is the highest category of award given to a corporate by PetroFed. PetroFed is petroleum Federation of India.
Why ONGC :
The award was given in recognition of ONGC’s leading performance in multiple segments in Oil and Gas value chain, in particular performance in Finance, Transparency and Governance, R&D; and Innovation, Human Resource Management, fulfilling values for Corporate Social Responsibility, while meeting norms of Health , Safety and Environment. Besides ONGC also received two more awards:
Exploration & Production – Company of the Year
Commendation award for Project Management – Company of the Year ( for project more than Rs 2000 Crore)

April 29, 2009: TCS CEO Ramadorai gets British award
S Ramadorai, chief executive officer and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services, has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to Indo-British economic relations. The Award was conferred on Ramadorai by the British Deputy High Commissioner, Western India, Vicki Treadell, at a function in Mumbai.
About This Honour
The CBE is conferred as an acknowledgement of an individual’s exceptional contribution in their field. Ramadorai has been instrumental, since taking over as CEO in 1996, in transforming Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) into a US$6 billion global software company with a geographical reach across 42 countries.

May 21, 2009 : Rajasthan Patrika won bronze in Inma Awards 2009
Rajasthan Patrika has won a bronze at the INMA (International News Media Marketing Association) Awards held at Miami USA on 15th May 2009 representing the world’s best newspaper marketing campaigns. For the category, brand awareness across platforms Rajasthan Patrika entered ‘Concerned Communicator Awards’ campaign and took away the bronze for the same. The awards were presented before 200+ media executives from around the world gathered for the INMA conference’s closing gala dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami. The creative campaign by Rajasthan Patrika made a place among 157 newspapers from 43 countries that participated in Inma Awards. Judging was based on concept, creativity, copy/graphic design, production, and overall effectiveness, as well as results.

Concerned Communicator Award concept of Rajasthan Patrika:
The Concerned Communicator Award is a unique concept conceived by Rajasthan Patrika, in 1997, with the intent of identifying and honoring the creative geniuses in the field of social advertising. The contest invites advertising professionals across the world to prepare the social print ads based on any social issue that they feel for. There is no participation fee to enter in the contest. The winner is entitled to a cash prize of US $ 11,000. Along with this, a Unicef Special Mention award and 12 special mention awards are also chosen by world famous ad luminaries. Last year, 10th CCA was a phenomenal success with a record 4000 entries from all across the world, and 21 countries participating in the noble cause to bring to light the social evils prevailing in the society.
Ad world mavericks including Piyush Pandey, Prasoon Joshi, Prahlad Kakkar, Bharat Dabholkar and Kaushik Roy adjudged the 10th CCA that received 4000 entries.
Many like minded associations supported CCA, that included IAA, AAAI, Ad club of Bombay, Inma, Ifra, Peta, Make a wish foundation, Cinemax, Cnbc Tv 18, Bright Advertising, Kingfisher, afaqs, visageimages and Yahoo India. CCA chose 7 social ambassadors who urged the ad professionals to raise a voice against social issues in their unique style through print advertisements.
Social ambassadors included Actor and activist Anupam Kher, actor and activist Shabana Azmi, Environmentalist and politician Maneka Gandhi, Retd IPS officer and activist Kiran Bedi, Actor and Peta activist John Abraham and Raveena Tandon and Sabrina Lall.
May 22, 2009 : JRD Tata young entrepreneur award for excellence
Two Puneites Bhausaheb Janjire and Amin Almel are among the three winners of JRD Tata young entrepreneur award for excellence. Janjire and Almel have won prize money of Rs 50,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. The award is instituted by non-profit organisation Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST).
