RBI projects India’s overall growth rate at negative 4.5% for 2020-21
In its recently released annual report, the apex bank forecasted India’s growth rate at negative 4.5% for 2020-21. It also expects headline inflation, which is estimated to remain high in the current quarter, to ease in the second quarter of the current fiscal.
Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration to be conferred on 31st October
PM Modi is expected to confer the awards on 31st October, during the occasion of the National Unity Day at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. This year, the scheme of these awards is restructured to recognise civil servants’ efforts in strengthening service delivery and redressal of public grievances.
KVIC boosts local employment via Honey Mission programme
KVIC, in line with the government’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision, is creating local employment for migrant workers via its flagship Honey Mission programme. 1,35,000 bee boxes were distributed so far in various states across the country, benefiting around 13,500 people across India.
17th India-Vietnam Joint Commission meeting held virtually
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh co-chaired the 17th India-Vietnam Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation. Both sides agreed to boost economic and defence ties and explore cooperation in emerging areas like space, civil nuclear energy, among others.
Global tourism industry losses $320 billion in exports
According to the UN, global tourism, the third-largest export sector of the global economy, has lost $320 billion in exports in the first five months of 2020 because of the pandemic.
India to take part in Kavkaz-2020 multilateral exercise
India, along with other countries including China and Pakistan, has received invite to multilateral exercise Kavkaz 2020 that is to be held in Southern Russia in September this year. It is going to send a tri-services contingent of around 200 personnel to take part in this strategic command-post exercise

The Shipping Ministry facilitated more than one lakh crew change on Indian ports and through charter flights. This is the highest number of crew changes in the world. Crew change involves replacing the ship’s crew with another and also sign-on the ships and sign-off the ships procedures.
