Indian-American philanthropist Ravishankar Bhooplapur has been appointed as the Governor of Rotary International in New York. He is the Founder and chairman of Gift of Life India. He is the first Indian-American to have been appointed for this position. A non-profit organisation, Gift of Life India has been instrumental in saving 1,400 children by assisting them with life-saving operations and surgeries in India.
Aspiring one day to be the International President of the 104-year-old Rotary, Mr. Bhooplapur has already received Rotary’s all three top honours – the “Meritorious Service Award,” “Service Above Self,” (2006) and “Distinguished Service Award (2008).
July 10, 2009 : Amit Baruah appointed Head BBC Hindi Services
BBC World Service has shifted the base of its Hindi Services to India and appointed Hindustan Times’ Foreign Editor, Amit Baruah to head the Hindi Services.
July 11, 2009: Roger Binny appointed Bengal coach
Former India all-rounder Roger Binny has been appointed as the coach of the Bengal cricket team for the next Ranji Trophy season.
