Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) tops in Nature Ranking Index-2020
The CSIR of Delhi topped the National Ranking Index 2020 that ranks the scientific research institutes. CSIR was followed by IISc Bangalore.
Highlights
The Rankings were provided based on the numbers of research output. It is indicated by total citations in numbers. It also includes shares, that is the sharing percentage of an article.
The top research works in India in the current scenario includes environmental science, physics, chemistry and Life Sciences.
Share percentage and scores
The first rank holder CSIR had a share percentage of 87.74 and 142 counts. Followed by CSIR, IISC Bangalore had a share percentage of 83.61 and 211 count. The third rank was won by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) with share percentage of 62.18 and 232 count.
Top Institutes
The other top institutes included Homi Bhabha National Institute, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, Indian Association of Cultivation of Science, IIT Guwahati.
GoI Requirements
The GoI is urging scientists to work on topics such as artificial intelligence, 5G, malnutrition, water conservation, prosperity of farmers, etc. The country is in need of these experts.
