In Sikkim, a free health checkup up programme initiated to reach rural masses by providing them basic health services at their door steps has benefited more than two lakhs and fifty thousand people in state so far. Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Annul and Total Checkup for Healthy Sikkim (CATCH) programme through its health camps and designated centres in all four districts in state conducted basic medical checkups and diagnosed other disease referring it to concerned health experts in case anyone identified with some difficult health problems. Government says the scheme which focuses on health promotion and an early detection of diseases by doing periodical total health checkups, is beneficial especially for the BPL families and senior citizens who are not able to travel long distances for treatment. This scheme launched two years back in state has aim to cover its entire population by the end of 2013.
