Commerce Secretary level meeting between India and Bangladesh

On 15th and 16th January 2020, The Commerce Secretary level meeting was held in New Delhi between India and Bangladesh. The Commerce Secretary of Government of India, AnupWadhawan led the Indian Delegation while the Secretary of Ministry of Commerce under the Government of Bangladesh, Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin led the Bangladesh delegation.

In the meeting, a variety of issues of mutual interest such as Border Haats, India Bangladesh CEO’s Forum, trade data sharing, initiatives of regional connectivity, harmonization of standards, advancing of border trading infrastructure, facilitation of business visas and joint study for the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, were discussed by both the sides.

From 13th to 14th January 2020, Joint Working Group (JWD) on trade was held in New Delhi at the level of Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry under the Government of India and Ministry of Commerce under the Government of Bangladesh which was preceded by this meeting. The next meetings of the Joint Working Group and the Commerce Secretaries are going to held in Bangladesh at mutually convenient dates that were finalized in this Commerce Secretary level meeting.
