CII

CII is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization that was founded in 1895. The organization aims to play a proactive role in India’s development process. It has over 7,200 members, from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 1,00,000 enterprises from around 242 national and regional sectoral industry bodies.

CII also aims to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering industry, Government, and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes. Its theme for 2014 is ‘Accelerating Growth, Creating Employment’. During 2014-15, CII will specially focus on ‘economic growth, education, skill development, manufacturing, investments, ease of doing business, export competitiveness, legal and regulatory architecture, labour law reforms and entrepreneurship as growth enablers.’

CII has institutional partnerships with 312 counterpart organizations in 106 countries and it acts as a reference point for Indian industry and the international business community.
