China’s Two Sessions

Two Sessions refers to the 2 annual meetings of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The NPC is China’s parliament but its function is nothing more than a rubber stamp. The CPPCC is considered as a ceremonial advisory body. Some 5,000 delegates are expected to attend these annual events in Beijing next week. The 2021 annual work report and the 14th five year plan are the highlights of these events.
