China sets up world's largest Cancer Registry System

China has set up the world’s largest cancer registry system in a bid to fight the cancer diseases with more-targeted and evidence-based intervention programmes.
The cancer registry system is a systematic collection of data about cancer and tumor diseases of Chinese people. The registry records complete summary of cancer patient history including diagnosis, treatment and status of every cancer patient. However the registry excludes the medical costs.
This registry system seeks to cover over 300 million people of China and expand to include 40 per cent of the nation’s population of 1.36 billion by 2020.
In China, at least 3 million people develop cancer each year and it claims 2.2 million lives in China and costs at least US 16 billion dollars each year.
