Chief Minister’s Sishu Sewa Scheme
Chief Minister’s Sishu Sewa Scheme was unveiled by the Assam Government recently to provide relief for children who were orphaned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This scheme will be implemented by the Education and Social Welfare Department and monitored by the Child Protection Society.
Under this scheme, the state government will provide monthly scholarship of Rs.3,500 to children who lost their parents or breadwinner to COVID-19. Those children who do not have extended family will be provided with free residential educational facilities. In addition, the scheme will provide girl beneficiaries with one tola of gold and Rs.50,000 during their marriage. Free computer and vocational training will also be provided.
