Chief Minister’s Residential Land Rights scheme

On 4 January 2023, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Chief Minister’s Residential Land Rights scheme (Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana) in Tikamgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. The scheme aims to provide free plots to poor rural families for building their homes.

Key Points

  • During the launch event, Chief Minister Chouhan distributed free pattas of residential land to the selected beneficiaries and interacted with them, even sharing a meal with them sitting on the ground. He also instructed the officers present to ensure that all basic facilities such as roads, electricity, water, and sewage lines were made available around the allotted plots.
  • In total, land plots worth Rs 129 crore 37 lakh were distributed to 10,918 beneficiaries in the district. Along with this, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 255 crore.
  • These development works include an irrigation scheme that will provide drinking water to 214 villages in the district and the opening of an SDM court in Badagaon Dhasan, Shivpuri.

Eligibility and Application Process

  • Under the scheme, applications from 14 lakh people across the state were received, and plots worth approximately Rs 120 crore were provided to 10,500 eligible beneficiaries in Tikamgarh district. The Chief Minister had instructed the Revenue Department to identify eligible beneficiaries for the scheme and prepare their data.
  • Each beneficiary family will be given a plot of about 600 square feet for the construction of their homes under various schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
  • The scheme will eventually be launched throughout the state, and this step will also pave the way for the construction of pucca houses for poor families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Chief Minister Jan-Awas Yojana.
  • The land will be given completely free of cost along with the benefits of all other schemes, and the lease of the land will be in the name of the husband and wife.

Other Initiatives

  • In addition to launching the residential land rights scheme, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 255 crore. He emphasized the importance of ensuring high quality in the Rs 255 crore irrigation scheme, which will provide drinking water to 214 villages in the district.
  • The Chief Minister also announced the opening of an SDM court in Badagaon Dhasan, Shivpuri and the renaming of the town to Kundeshwar Dham. He also announced the development of the Bagaj temple Kundeshwar Dham premises.
