Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial is proposed project in the Arabian Sea. It is an under construction memorial site located off the coast of Mumbai and dedicated to the 17th century Maratha king. It is to be built on a reclaimed island at the cost of about 3,600 crore INR. The presence of shale under this island is a source of concern as it may weaken the memorial structure. The public works department is exploring the option of an undersea metro rail to enable access during monsoon season.
