Char Dham highway project

The Char Dham highway project, which is still under the construction stage, is two-way national highway in Uttarakhand. This project has been linked with the recent flash floods in the state, which caused numerous deaths and damaged Tapovan hydro project. The Central Government rejected this claim. Last year, the SC directed the Centre to limit the width to 5.5 m for the two-lane road. However, the government appealed to apex court to allow road’s width to be at least 7.5 m.
