Chandrayaan-3 lander clears key test

The Chandrayaan 3 is the third lunar mission of India. Indian Space Research Organization recently announced that the EMI-EMC test of the lander part was successful. The EMI-EMC are Electromagnetic tests. During the test, the lander is checked if its operation is creating EM interference in the nearby environment. Also, checks if its operation is affected by the nearby EM waves.

What is the EMI-EMC test?

EMI is the Electro Magnetic Interference test and EMC is the Electro Magnetic Compatibility test. For the successful landing and operation, it is essential that the lander part clears the EMI and EMC tests.

Significance

If the lander did not clear the test or if tests were partially completed, the entire Chandrayaan 3 may go in vain. It is essential for any electronic component to block electromagnetic waves. Also, the component should not emit any electromagnetic waves. If it emits or doesn’t block the EM waves, the energy and the signals received, sent, or produced in the component are disrupted. Miscommunication happens and the mission fails. Probably, the Chandrayaan 2 lander crashed onto the moon’s surface for this reason. MISCOMMUNICATION.

About Chandrayaan 3
