‘Chandra Shekhar – The Last Icon of Ideological Politics’book released

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the book titled ‘Chandra Shekhar – The Last Icon of Ideological Politics‘ at an event held at Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building. The 1st copy of book was presented to Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India.

The book chronicles the political journey of former Prime Minister of India Chandra Shekhar. It has been written by Shri Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha and Ravi Dutt Bajpai.

About Chandra Shekhar

He was 8th Prime Minister of India and served in office from 10 November 1990 – 21 June 1991. He is 1st Indian Prime Minister who has never held any Government office.

He undertook a nationwide Padayatra (marathon walk) through the country in 1983, from Kanyakumari in South to Rajghat in New Delhi covering a distance of about 4260 km in over 6 months. Rajghat is a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.

During his days he was popularly called as Young Turk for his conviction, courage and integrity in fight against vested interests.
