CFC 11
CFC 11 or trichlorofluoromethane is a chlorofluorocarbon- a category of compounds that are known to be ozone-depleting. It is noted for its use as a refrigerant and more recently, as a foaming agent in the polyurethane foam manufacturing. It is listed in the Montreal Protocol. According to a recent MIT study, the oceans would be emitting more CFC 11 than they are absorbing by 2075. The oceans would start emitting detectable amounts of the compound by 2130 due to climate change.
