Cambrian Patrol Competition 2023
In a remarkable display of skill and resilience, the Indian Army clinched the gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Competition 2023, an international military exercise held in Wales, UK. This achievement reflects the prowess of a team from the 3/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force), who represented the Indian Army at this prestigious event.
Competing on a Global Stage
The Indian Army team faced formidable competition, as they pitted their skills against a total of 111 teams. This impressive lineup included 38 international teams, representing elite special forces and esteemed military regiments from around the world. The Cambrian Patrol Exercise, organized by the UK Army, is renowned as the ultimate test of human endurance and team spirit, often referred to as the “Olympics of Military Patrolling” among global militaries.
Challenging Course and Tactical Missions
The exercise presented a daunting 60-kilometer course, which the teams had to navigate in under 48 hours. Throughout this demanding journey, the participants engaged in tactical missions, contending with the rugged mountain terrain and swamplands of Wales. This arduous challenge showcased not only physical strength but also strategic prowess.
India’s Previous Success
This is not the first time the Indian Army has achieved victory at the Cambrian Patrol Exercise. In 2021, the Indian Army secured a gold medal at the same competition, surpassing 96 teams, including 17 international teams representing Special Forces and esteemed regiments from various nations.
