Cabinet approves setting up of Medical College at Silvassa in UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli
Under Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently, Union Cabinet approved the setting up of a medical college in Silvassa of Dadar and Nagar Haveli. This will increase the availability of doctors and increase in medical education opportunities.
Key Facts
The construction of this medical college will be done till 2019-20 and in accordance with the guidelines of the Medical Council of India and Central Health and Family Welfare Ministry. The expenditure of this medical college will be done by the Union Territory’s budgetary provision. This medical college will improve health services and the problem of doctors’ deficiency is also the distance. This will encourage students of nearby rural areas to enter the medical field. An amount of Rs. 189 crores has been fixed for its construction. This amount will be Rs 114 crores for the year 2019-20. Whereas for the year 2019-20 this amount will be Rs. 75 crores.
