BSL-3 VDRL Lab

The DRDO, along with ESIC Medical College and Hospital, has launched the country’s first mobile sample collection lab, called BSL-3 VDRL Lab.

About the Lab

The BSL-3 VDRL Lab is a mobile sample collection lab developed by DRDO and ESIC Medical College and Hospital (Hyderabad). It is the first of its kind lab in the country and was developed in a record 15 days. It can collect and process more than 1,000 samples in a day.

Other Technologies

Some of the other technologies developed by DRDO and shared with ESIC are COVSACK unit for sample collection, aerosol boxes and aerosolized sanitizer dispenser, snorkel face masks and face shields as reusable PPE N-95 equivalent, UV-C disinfection chamber, etc.

DRDO

DRDO or Defence Research and Development Organisation is an R&D agency under the Union Ministry of Defence and headquartered in Delhi. It was formed in 1958. It has a network of 52 labs across India and is one of the most diverse research organisation in the country.
