Books on teachings of Guru Nanak Dev launched
Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ launched the three books on teachings of Guru Nanak Dev at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College in New Delhi. The books published in Punjabi were launched to commemorate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
The book launch comes ahead of inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor which will be held on 9 November 2019. The corridor will connect the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab with Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur in Pakistan.
About The Books
The three Punjabi titles are- ‘Guru Nanak Bani’, ‘Nanak Bani’, and ‘Sakhian Guru Nanak Dev’. They have been published by National Book Trust (NBT) to spread the message of Guru Nanak Dev’s writings among readers of Indian sub-continent.
Guru Nanak Bani: The book contains various verses from original Bani of Guru Nanak Dev which have been collated theme-wise. It is compiled by Bhai Jodh Singh. The ‘Guru Nanak Bani’ has already published by NBT in five Indian languages (Urdu, Odia, Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati) and will soon be translated in 15 Indian languages so that the teachings of Guru Nanak Devji reach millions of Indians across the nation.
Nanak Bani: The book is a collection of five prominent writings (paanch bania) of Guru Nanak Dev. It is compiled by Manjit Singh.
Sakhian Guru Nanak: The book is based on these life stories of Guru Nanak Dev and contains ‘Janamsakhis’ (literally meaning birth stories) are writings which profess to be biographies of Guru Nanak. This is an illustrated book especially meant for children. It is compiled by Jagtarjit Singh
