BJP wins 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election by winning 57 seats of the total 70 seats. Indian National Congress (INC) won 11 seats and Independents won 2 seats. The election was held on 15 February 2017 in a single phase for 69 seats except Karnaprayag. It saw voter turnout 65.64%. Chief Minister Harish Rawat of Congress lost from both seats Haridwar (Rural) and Kichcha contested by him.
