The national postal exhibition BIPEX-2024 commenced in Patna at the Gyan Bhawan Auditorium and will run for three days. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar inaugurated the exhibition, marking Bihar’s rich postal history.

BIPEX-2024 features approximately 20,000 postal stamps, which are curated by 153 collectors and philatelists. Participants hail from various parts of India, which aims to celebrate and educate about postal heritage.

Historic Postal Stamp

One key attraction is the world’s first postal stamp. This stamp, known as Azimabad Ekanni and Doanni, was released 250 years ago, which is originated in Patna and was crafted from a copper coin. This historical piece showcases the evolution of postal services.

Book Launches

Two books will be launched during the event. The titles are “Glory of Bihar” and “Postal Heritage of Bihar,” which aim to provide vital information about Bihar’s postal history and its impact.

The exhibition offers valuable learning experiences for young attendees. Anil Kumar, Chief Post Master General of Bihar, emphasised its educational value. It serves as a treasure trove for stamp collectors and enthusiasts alike.
