Bihar Government Announces 10% Reservation for EWS in Judicial Services and Law Colleges

The Bihar government has taken a significant step by announcing a 10% reservation for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in the state’s judicial services and government-run law colleges and universities. This announcement comes shortly after the release of the state’s caste survey data.

Cabinet Decision

During a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the decision to introduce this reservation was approved. The amendment in the guidelines of the State Judicial Services, 1951, will facilitate this 10% reservation for the EWS category in judicial services as well as in state-run law institutes and universities.

Data Highlights from Caste Survey

The release of the caste survey data revealed that Extremely Backward Communities (EBCs) make up 36.01% of Bihar’s population, while Backward Classes constitute an additional 27.12%.

100 Veterinary Hospitals to Be Constructed

In addition to the reservation announcement, the state cabinet also approved the construction of 100 veterinary hospitals across Bihar. These first-class veterinary hospitals will be established in various districts of the state, each with its training center. The project will entail an expenditure of Rs 225 crore in 17 districts.
