Bhubaneswar to Host First Edition of Khelo India University Games
Logo and Jersey of the inaugural edition of the Khelo India University Games was unveiled by Kiren Rijiju (Union Sports Minister), Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nisank’ (Union Minister of Human Resource Development) along with the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik on Monday, 6th January 2020 from the capital city of Odisha and the host city for the first edition of Khelo India University Games, Bhubaneswar.
The first edition to be conducted at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), will begin on the 22nd of February and will conclude on 1st March 2020 in which for top honors in 17 disciplines, over 100 universities across India comprising of more than 4,000 athletes will participate.
The Union Sports Minister addressed the ceremony and said that the first edition of the Khelo India University Games will help in the long run by a developing a culture for sports among the youths of the country and will further contribute to the ultimate goal of topping the medals tally in international events such as Olympics Games.
