Bhimbetka rock shelters

Bhimbetka rock shelters is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Madhya Pradesh. This archaeological site contains evidence of human settlements spanning several periods- Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Chalcolithic. The cave walls contain images of people engaged in multiple activities like dancing, riding, battling, etc., some 29 species of animals and even mythical beasts. An ancient fossil was recently discovered in an area of the rock shelters called the Auditorium Wall.
