BHEL acquires Space-Grade Lithium-Ion Cell Technology from ISRO

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), as a part of a diversification strategy, has transferred its indigenous technology for the manufacturing of Space-Grade Lithium-Ion cells to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
Earlier this year, on March 23, The technology transfer agreement was signed by BHEL for acquiring the technology from ISRO.
The technology transfer as per the agreement was completed on Thursday, November 28, 2019.

As per the agreement, space-grade lithium-ion cells manufactured by BHEL will only be for the purpose of meeting the national requirement.
For selling space-grade lithium-ion cells outside India, BHEL will require to obtain written approval from ISRO.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) was established in 1964 by the Government of India and is the largest power generation equipment manufacturer in India.
