Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train – Update (January, 2023)

Indian Railways has announced that it will be running its Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train on a route connecting pilgrimage sites of Ayodhya in India and Janakpur in Nepal next month. The initiative is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cultural relations between the two countries. The tour, called ‘Shri Ram-Janaki Yatra: Ayodhya to Janakpur’ will start from Delhi on February 17th, and will cover several other significant sites such as Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Kashi, and Prayagraj. The Tour Itinerary

The tour, which is a seven-day package, will begin from Delhi on February 17th and will have its first stop at Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. Tourists will visit the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Hanuman temple, and Bharat Mandir at Nandigram. From there, the train will move to Sitamarhi Railway station in Bihar, where tourists will proceed to Janakpur in Nepal by bus, which is 70 km away from the railway station. There will be two nights stay in hotels in Janakpur and Varanasi, as per the statement issued by the Railway Ministry.

Features of the Train

The Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is a state-of-the-art Deluxe AC Tourist Train that comes with a host of features to ensure a comfortable journey for the tourists. Some of these features include two fine dining restaurants, a modern kitchen, shower cubicles in coaches, sensor-based washroom functions, and foot massager. The train also provides two nights stay in hotels in Janakpur and Varanasi, as per the statement issued by the Railway Ministry.

Pricing and Payment Options

The tour package is priced at a starting range of ₹39,775 per person, and the price will cover train journey in the respective class, night stay at AC hotels, vegetarian meals, all transfer and sight-seeing in buses, travel insurance, and services of a guide. To make the package more affordable and accessible to a larger population, IRCTC has tied up with Paytm and Razorpay payment gateways to provide EMI payment options. Users can avail the EMI payment option for making payment in 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 or 24-month EMIs through debit/credit cards.

COVID-19 Measures

The statement issued by the Railway Ministry also mentions that COVID-19 final vaccination is mandatory for all guests above 18 years of age. This measure has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all the tourists on the train.

The launch of the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is in line with the Government of India’s initiative “Dekho Apna Desh” to promote domestic tourism.
