Benjamin Netanyahu charged with corruption

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was charged with bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in a corruption scandal
The charges are first of their kind against a serving Israel Prime Minister was announced by Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. However, Netanyahu denied wrongdoing in the three graft cases, saying he is the victim of a political witch hunt, vowing to stay on as the leader in Israel.

If convicted as Prime Minister, he would be forced to resign from the post and could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine for bribery charges alone, while fraud and breach of trust carry a prison sentence of up to three years as per law in Israel.
Charges over Netanyahu raised more uncertainty over who will finally lead the country mired in political chaos after two inconclusive elections this year.
