Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina arrives in New Delhi on 4-day visit

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on a four day visit to India. She will be attending India Economic Summit of World Economic Forum in Delhi on 3 October 2019. This is the first visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after assuming office for third consecutive term as Bangladesh PM and in second term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Key Highlights of Visit

During the visit Sheikh Hasina will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two Prime Ministers will jointly inaugurate 3 bilateral projects via video link and exchange Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs). The two countries are likely to sign 10-12 MoUs and agreements during the visit.

The two leaders will discuss issues including Teesta water sharing, Rohingya repatriation and will also discuss ways to enhance connectivity between Bangladesh and India through river and sea routes.

Both Prime Ministers are also likely to discuss joint celebration of birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 50- years of Bangladesh’s independence as well as diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and India.
